Despite more than 10 000 people urging the Kenyan government to keep the six-year-old logging ban in place, President William Ruto has lifted it. By lifting this ban, President Ruto has prioritised profit over people and nature as the decision allows sawmillers to harvest mature trees from both public and community forests, which could result in devastating consequences to our environment in this crucial time of the climate crisis.

The 30by30 initiative, which is pushing for at least 30 per cent of the global ocean to be protected in Marine Protected Areas by 2030, has so far been supported by 10 countries including:
Belize Costa Rica Finland Gabon Kenya Seychelles Vanuatu Portugal Palau, and Belgium
The Global Ocean Alliance will push for the trebling of existing globally-agreed targets so at least a third of the ocean is safeguarded in Marine Protected Areas over the next decade.

Le Canada se joint à un groupe international d'une vingtaine d'autres pays qui travaillent à protéger les océans du monde.
L'Alliance mondiale pour les océans, fondée par le Royaume-Uni l'année dernière, cherche à protéger 30 % des océans du monde d'ici 2030.
Ses 22 membres comprennent des pays européens tels que l'Italie, l'Allemagne et la Suède, ainsi que des États insulaires comme les Fidji et les Seychelles.
