On Thursday 29 June from 6pm to 7.30pm, Rise for Climate Belgium is organising another rally at Brussels Schuman during the European Council of Heads of State.
On the eve of one of the hottest summers in history, with threats of drought, water shortages, fires, toxic fumes and floods in Europe and around the world, we regret that the climate emergency is not on the agenda of the European Council on 29 and 30 June.
Carbon neutrality in 2050 is far too late. Météo France, for example, is forecasting 50 degrees Celsius in Paris in 2050.
At a time when new gas projects are being developed all over Europe in defiance of the Green Deal, we want the 27 Member States to adopt a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, which is supported by thousands of NGOs, scientists , European Parliament, World Health Organization...and is essential if we are to have any hope of maintaining a viable planet.
Contrary to the declarations of Macron and De Croo who want a pause in European environmental regulations, we want the 27 to speed up their measures to restore nature, for the climate and to put in place an ecocide law to dissuade the most polluting companies.
